In Muharram, we relive the story of Imam Hussain (AS) and his family. They sacrificed all they had for the sake of justice and never lost hope.
‘The ones who have believed, emigrated and striven in the cause of Allah with their wealth and their lives are greater in rank in the sight of Allah. And it is those who are the attainers [of success].’ (Holy Quran 9:20)
The month of Muharram is about hope. Hope that sustained the heroes of our faith through their struggles and hope that they gifted us through their sacrifices.
Will you join us in honouring Imam Hussain’s (AS) sacrifice by gifting hope to orphaned children this Muharram?
At Al-Ayn, we see hope in action through sponsorship of orphaned children. It has the power to sustain them through challenges and lead them out of tragedy. It can inspire them to reimagine their future, unleash their potential, and grow to have a positive impact on their communities.
‘So verily, with every difficulty, there is relief: Verily, with every difficulty there is relief.’
(Holy Quran 94: 5-6)
Sponsorship of orphaned children provides financial support through regular monthly allowances. The financial aid is spent by the orphaned child’s mother or guardian on their needs. In addition to this, our comprehensive care system gives the children access to free healthcare, mental health support, tuition, housing support and much more.
To sustain hope, effective mental health support is key. This the reason providing psychological rehabilitation for orphaned children is at the forefront of our work. The orphaned children who we support have lost a father figure and experienced trauma. We give them the tools they need to process their grief and recover from trauma. We help them develop resilience, gain skills and regain their hope for the future.
Providing dignified care is essential to our work. For example, when mothers or guardians visit their local Al-Ayn branch to collect monthly financial aid, they do so in a professional setting similar to a bank set-up, designed to preserve their dignity and respect their privacy. Meanwhile, children are encouraged to play in the play area or pick a toy from the Al-Ayn Toy Shop. This allows Al-Ayn staff to monitor the wellbeing and progress of every sponsored child. It also gives mothers or guardians time to speak to a member of our staff about any needs or concerns.
Our pledge to provide dignified care to orphaned children is fuelled by the power of hope. Hope from those who came before us – the heroes of Muharram, who rose above tragedy to inspire mankind.
‘They ask you [O Muhammad] what they should spend. Say “whatever you spend of good is [to be] for parents and relatives and orphans and the needy and the traveller. And whatever you do of good – indeed Allah is knowing of it. (Holy Quran 2:215)
Please join us this Muharram as we turn tragedy into hope, and hope into positive change for orphaned children in need.
