Notes
  1. 1) Your khums due date is the first day you started your job or business. If you are retired or not in employment, then you can agree a khums due date with a representative of the marja'a, or calculate separate khums years for each profit that you make, from the date you made that profit.
  2. 2) The khums of commercial commodities and real estate(s) which are intended for trading, should be paid in accordance with their current market value, even if they were bought with profits which a year has elapsed on, unless the price at which they were bought is higher than the current value.
  3. 3) If the calculations show that the amount of khums due is negative as a result of sustenance debts, then the amount of the sustenance debt equivalent to the amount of khums due for the rest of the item is calculated and excluded.
  4. 4) If sustenance debts are fully repaid in the financial year, this amount is excluded from the profits.
  5. 5) Possessions which are not subject to khums are:
    1. a. Possessions owned through inheritance:

Celebrating Eid with Love: Our Eid Clothes and Qurbani Initiatives

01 July 2024

Al-Ayn recently set out to ensure that each and every orphaned child across Iraq, Afghanistan and Ghana could experience the joy and excitement of receiving brand-new clothes to wear on Eid Al-Adha.  Thanks to the generosity of our global supporters, we made this vision a reality.

Additionally, thanks to our supporters, our Qurbani campaign enabled us to ensure that over 94,000 orphaned children and their families in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Ghana received Qurbani meat to enjoy a healthy meal on Eid al-Adha. Together, we successfully offered sustenance to families impacted by poverty.

Distribution Day: A Celebration of Joy

The day of distribution was truly special. Over 93,000 children in Iraq, and almost 800 children across Afghanistan and Ghana, received new clothes in time for Eid. Qurbani meat parcels were also distributed, ensuring families experienced both joy and sustenance during this auspicious time. Our field teams made sure the children had a memorable experience.

A Heartfelt Thank You

Our Eid Clothes and Qurbani initiatives would not have been possible without the incredible support of our supporters. Your commitment makes a lasting impact on the lives of these children. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to each one of you for making this initiative a success.

As we move forward, we are inspired by the joy we have brought to these children and are motivated to continue our efforts to support those in need.

The Impact of Poverty

Across Iraq, Afghanistan, and Ghana, high levels of poverty are affecting families, and thousands of these children have lost one or both of their parents due to conflict, violence, and economic hardship, leaving them especially vulnerable and in urgent need of support.

At Al-Ayn, our mission is to ensure that all of the orphaned children under our care feel loved, supported, and cherished.
